German Writer in Residence: Klaus Böldl

Klaus Böldl

The School of Languages and Social Sciences is delighted to welcome German contemporary author Klaus Böldl as DAAD Writer in Residence, in September/October 2013. Since the publication of his highly acclaimed first novel Studie in Kristallbildung (“Study in Crystal Formation”) in 1997, Klaus Böldl has received nothing but praise for his books from reviewers in all of Germany’s major newspapers, and the author has been awarded several literary prizes.

Böldl’s novels have not yet been published in translation, and in addition to providing the opportunity to engage with staff and students at Aston, his stay in Britain will introduce him to an English speaking reading public. For this purpose, extracts from his works have been translated by final year German students at Aston and will be presented at public readings in Birmingham and London.

On 2 Oct, Aston is organising the first international conference on Böldl’s works. For conference information and registration click here.
