Hayley Collinswood, Biomedical Science

My placement was at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Clinical Microbiology. It was a valuable experience and provided an insight into what it’s like being a BMS. I enjoyed working within a team and making a difference for the patients. I also learnt various skills, including, organisational and practical skills.

Though I felt really homesick during my first few weeks in Hong Kong I feel that I am now fully integrated into the society. I feel that this is my second home and I have made such good memories. I have met so many people from all around the world and have made lifelong friends. Each day I learn something new about HK and about myself. I feel that I am constantly developing myself, and knowing that I am able to cope well here on the other side of the world means that I will be more than able to conquer any challenge that I face later on with my life. Going on exchange here is definitely a once in a life time experience and I am really glad that I was given this opportunity to do it. My time here is flying by and I know for sure that I will miss HK so much when the time comes for me to go back home.
