Current Research

Investigation of the impact of fatty acids on monocyte to macrophage differentiation, determining if these fatty acids influence or polarise monocytes towards either a M1 classical or an M2 anti-inflammatory phenotype, in addition to the roles of metabolic transcription factors such as PPAR and FOXO in these processes.  Of particular interest is the interplay between the substrate environment and the influence over monocyte behaviour and ultimately macrophage phenotype in ageng and metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease'.
