Pharmacy Academic Practice Unit

APU HEADER

The Pharmacy Academic Practice Unit is part of the Aston Pharmacy School. The APU is a novel collaboration between the Pharmacy School at Aston University and Birmingham Children's Hospital and the wider NHS.

The APU is a conduit to pharmacy practice in all sectors and specialties and provides a focus for teaching, training and research in three main areas. These are:
  • Near-patient pharmacy  
  • Pharmacy education  
  • Development of novel drug formulations

As part of these programmes the APU provides a leading role in the development and delivery of practice-related postgraduate courses and in particular the professional doctorate in pharmacy (PharmD), clinically enhance pharmacist independent prescribing (CEPIP), advanced health assessment (AHA) and Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) training.
