Turkish Scholarships

Aston is a friendly and diverse learning environment, home to a close-knit international campus community.

We have 2,500 international students from over 120 countries studying a wide range of subjects in our safe and friendly city centre campus.

Applications from Turkish students are especially welcome, with postgraduate scholarships of between £2,500 and £5,000 available. Please see below.


Aston Business School Scholarship Award Scheme 2016/17

Aston Excellence - £5,000

We are pleased to announce we will be offering students the opportunity to make an application for an Aston Excellence Scholarship, entitling them to a £5,000 scholarship on tuition fees. Full terms and conditions can be found here.

Automatic Merit - £2,500 - £3,000   

Students achieving the equivalent of a UK 2:1 degree classification will automatically be awarded a scholarship of between £2,500 and £3,000. Full terms and conditions can be found here.

Partner Awards   

Students studying at Aston University partner institutions are eligible for a 10% discount on tuition fees. See here for more information.

Turkish students have been studying at Aston for many years and each year we welcome many more new students. We currently have 27 Turkish students studying at Aston University.

Academic staff regularly visit Turkey to work with our partner institutions,Bikent University and Kadir Has Univeristy, and to take part in international conferences.

There is a Turkish community on campus. There are a number of societies which may be of interest to Turkish students.There are also a number of societies which bring together students from similar religious backgrounds. Find out more about societies at Aston

Birmingham is a multicultural city and there is a strong Turkish community. You'll find Turkish restaurants and more in the city.

Staff from the International Office visit Turkey four times per year to take part in Exhibitions, visit schools and colleges and to meet with students through our official representative offices.

Preparatory English

Students from Turkey who do not meet the English language requirement for their academic course study are on our Preparatory English Programmes.

Turkish applicants holding the Lise Diplomasi qualification with an overall average score of less than 4.0 will be required to complete a recognised Foundation Programme. Individual subject marks may also be required as well as evidence of your English language ability.

Holders of the Lise Diplomasi from a recognised High School with an overall average score of 4.0 or above may apply for Year 1 of an undergraduate degree.

Some degree programmes, such as engineering, sciences and languages, require specific subject backgrounds.

Postgraduate – Taught Masters

You can apply for a 1 year masters programme with an undergraduate degree from a recognised Indonesian University. 

You should have at least a GPA of 3.0 from a recognised Turkish university. The specific percentage requirement will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the Turkish university from which you have graduated. 

If you are applying for finance, engineering, science or social science based subjects; you must have studied a similar field in your undergraduate degree.  There are a number of conversion programmes in business and management which are appropriate for students from any subject background.

Postgraduate - MBA
You can apply for the MBA programme with an undergraduate degree, in any subject area, from an overseas institution and a minimum of three years post graduation managerial work experience. You should have at least an undergraduate degree from a recognised Turkish University with at least a GPA of 3.0 overall or above.

English language requirements for MBA.

Postgraduate – Executive MBA

You can apply for the Executive MBA programme with an undergraduate degree, in any subject area, from an overseas institution and a minimum of five years post graduation managerial work experience. You should have at least an undergraduate degree from a recognised Turkish University with at least a GPA of 3.0 overall or above.
This programme takes 2.5 years in total and is taught in blocks of 6 days at a time.  It requires the commitment of the student to travel to the UK 6 times per year. 

Postgraduate - Research 

Each of Aston's Schools of Study has a number of research groups with the potential to host PhD students. Research specialisms include finance, economics, marketing, organisational psychology, bioenergy, knowledge engineering, photonics, languages, biomedical sciences, neurosciences, health sciences and more. 

You have to submit a detailed research proposal outlining your intended research topic, its objectives, proposed method of research and an indication of how the proposed research topic relates to previous work by other researchers. Find out more on Aston's Postgraduate research pages
