Aston University's links with Lithuania

Lithuanian students have been studying at Aston for many years and each year we welcome many more new students. We currently have 60 Lithuanian students studying at Aston University.

Lithuanian community on campus & in Birmingham

There is a very active Lithuanian community on campus. There are a number of societies which may be of particular interest to Lithuanian students. The Lithuanian Students' Society organises trips, cultural and social events.

Birmingham is a multi-cultural city and there is a large Lithuanian community. You'll find Lithuanian supermarkets in the city and most general supermarkets sell a range of Eastern European food.

Aston is able to guarantee you University accommodation for the duration of your studies, providing you apply by the deadline each year.

You can apply for Year 1 of an undergraduate degree after graduation from the Brandos Atestatas awarded after 12 years of education. 

The marks required vary depending on which subject the student is applying to at Aston University. In general applicants should be scoring in the range of 8-9 overall in the final year PLUS an 70-80% overall average in three National Matura Examination subjects

Engineering and Science subjects will require specific subjects.

English language requirements for undergraduate courses.

Postgraduate - Masters

You can apply for a 1 year masters programme with an undergraduate degree (Bakalauras) from a recognised Lithuanian university. 

You should have at least a minimum average grade of 4 out of 5 or 7 out of 10  from a Lithuanian university.  The specific percentage requirement will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the Lithuanian university from which you have graduated.

If you are applying for finance, engineering, science or social science based subjects; you must have studied a similar field in your undergraduate degree.  There are a number of conversion programmes in business and management which are appropriate for students from any subject background. 

English language requirements for taught postgraduate programmes.

Postgraduate - MBA

You can apply for the MBA programme with an undergraduate degree, in any subject area, from an overseas institution and a minimum of three years post graduation managerial work experience. You should have at least a minimum average grade of 4 out of 5 or 7 out of 10  from a Lithuanian university.

English language requirements for MBA.

Postgraduate – Executive MBA

You can apply for the Executive MBA programme with an undergraduate degree, in any subject area, from an overseas institution and a minimum of five years post graduation managerial work experience. You should have at least a minimum average grade of 4 out of 5 or 7 out of 10  from a Lithuanian university. This programme takes 2.5 years in total and is taught in blocks of 6 days at a time.  It requires the commitment of the student to travel to the UK 6 times per year. 

Postgraduate - Research 

Each of Aston's Schools of Study has a number of research groups with the potential to host PhD students. Research specialisms include finance, economics, marketing, organisational psychology, bioenergy, knowledge engineering, photonics, languages, biomedical sciences, neurosciences, health sciences and more. 

You have to submit a detailed research proposal outlining your intended research topic, its objectives, proposed method of research and an indication of how the proposed research topic relates to previous work by other researchers. Find out more on Aston's Postgraduate research pages
