Students from Cyprus have been studying at Aston for many years and each year we welcome many more new students. We currently have 29 students from Cyprus studying at Aston University.

You are eligible to apply for the International foundation programme if you have achieved 15 overall in the Apolytirion plus IELTS 5.5 or if you have the Lise Diplomasi at Grade 4 (B) (Old system 7/10) + IELTS 5.5.

For direct entry onto year 1 of an Undergraduate degree you must have the following:

Aston Business School

Engineering and Applied Science

Languages and Social Sciences

18.5 overall inc 18 in English Language and 16 in Maths.


For any programme with subject specific requirements, 18 in the Apolytirion must be in that subject eg IBML



17 overall plus IELTS 6.0 plus 1 A-levels at grade C in a specified subject, (B in Maths for BSc Mathemamtics)


Note IELTS requirements for Computing for Business,  Logistics and Transport Mgt programmes is 6.5 overall.

Life Health Sciences
  • Biology - 17 overall plus IELTS 6.5 plus 2 A-levels inc Biology at grades B and a second science at grade C
  • Psychology - 17 overall plus IELTS 6.5 plus 2 A-levels at grades B and C
  • MPharm - 17 overall plus IELTS 6.5 plus 2 A-levels inc Chemistry at minimum grade  B and a second science at grade C
  • Optometry – 18 Overall plus IELTS 6.5 plus 2 A-levels inc Biology at grade B and a second science at grade B

English language requirements for undergraduate courses. 

Postgraduate - Taught

Holders of the LISANS DIPLOMASI from a recognised institution with a minimum GPA of 3.7 will be considered for Masters study at Aston.  

Cypriot Bachelors  and the Ptychion (from the University of Cyprus) are considered British Bachelor equivalent (This only applies to courses that have been accredited by the Ministry of Education and Culture) and therefore will be considered for Masters study at Aston.

If you are applying for finance, engineering or science based subjects, you must have studied a similar field in your undergraduate degree.

There are a number of conversion courses in the Business School which will accept students from any subject background.  

English language requirements for taught postgraduate programmes.

Postgraduate - MBA 

You can come from any subject background, but should have at least a first class degree from a Cypriot university and a minimum of three years post graduation managerial work experience, as stipulated by the Association of MBA (AMBA) requirements.

Postgraduate - Research 

In order to apply to a research degree programme, you should have at least a first class masters degree from a Cypriot university and a relevant English language qualification.

Each of Aston's Schools of Study has a number of research groups with the potential to host PhD students. Research specialisms include finance, economics, marketing, organisational psychology, bioenergy, knowledge engineering, photonics, languages, biomedical sciences, neurosciences, health sciences and more.
