Aston University provides a welcoming and multi-cultural learning experience to approximately 10,000 students, many of whom live on our safe and friendly city centre campus. The University has more than 2,300 international students from over 120 countries studying a wide range of subjects.

Aston University's links with Kazakhstan

Kazakh students have been studying at Aston for many years and each year we welcome many more new students. We currently have 16 Kazakh students studying at Aston University. 
Aston University has an agreement with Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages. We offer a double Masters degree in Applied Translation Studies (English - Russian).

Academic staff regularly visit Kazahstan to work with our partner institutions and to take part in international conferences.

Undergraduate

Students who have Svidetel'stvo o Srednem Obrazovanii will be required to complete a recognised Foundation Programme. For entry to the International Foundation Programme at Aston University we would require a minimum average of 4 out of 5 with as little satisfactory marks as possible PLUS an English Languauge qualification.

Some degree programmes, such as engineering, sciences and languages, require specific subject backgrounds.

KIMEP students  who complete 1st year of study at KIMEP with a minimum B grade average can apply for a 1st year entry of a Bachelor degree.

English language requirements for undergraduate courses.

Postgraduate – Taught
You can apply for a 1 year masters programme with a 4 year undergraduate degree from a recognised Kazakh University. The specific requirements will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the Kazakh institution which you have graduated from. You will also need an English Language qualification.

If you are applying for finance, engineering, science or social science based subjects; you must have studied a similar field in your undergraduate degree.  There are a number of conversion programmes in accounting, business and management which are appropriate for students from any subject background. 

English language requirements for taught postgraduate programmes.

Postgraduate - MBA
You can apply for the MBA programme with an undergraduate degree, in any subject area, from an overseas institution and a minimum of three years full time post graduation managerial work experience. You should have at least an average of 4 out of 5 marks (min GPA of 3.0 from KIMEP) or above from a recognised Kazakh university, PLUS an English Language qualification.

English language requirements for MBA.

Postgraduate - Research 

You should have at least an average of 4 out of 5 marks (min GPA 3.0 from KIMEP) or above from a recognised Kazakh university. The specific requirements will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the Kazakh university from which you have graduated. You will also need an English Language qualification.

Each of Aston's Schools of Study has a number of research groups with the potential to host PhD students. Research specialisms include finance, economics, marketing, organisational psychology, bioenergy, knowledge engineering, photonics, languages, biomedical sciences, neurosciences, health sciences and more. 
You should have at least an average of 4 out of 5 marks (min GPA of 3.0 from KIMEP) or above from a recognised Kazakh university PLUS an English Language qualification.

You have to submit a detailed research proposal outlining your intended research topic, its objectives, proposed method of research and an indication of how the proposed research topic relates to previous work by other researchers. Find out more on Aston's Postgraduate research pages
