Aston University provides a welcoming and multi-cultural learning experience to approximately 10,000 students, many of whom live on our safe and friendly city centre campus. The University has more than 2,300 international students from over 120 countries studying a wide range of subjects.

Aston University's links with Tanzania

Tanzanian students have been studying at Aston for a number of years and each year we welcome many more new students. We currently have 26 Tanzanian students studying at Aston University.

Academic staff regularly visit Tanzania to work with our partner institutions and to take part in international conferences.

There is a very active East African community on campus. There are a number of societies which may be of particular interest to East African students. The African and Caribbean Students' Society organises trips, cultural and social events.

Birmingham is a multi-cultural city and there is a strong East African community. You'll find East African restaurants, supermarkets, music, dance and more in the city.

Staff from the International Office visit Tanzania several times per year to take part in British Council Education UK Exhibitions, visit schools and colleges and to meet with students through our official representative offices.

Undergraduate

You can apply for Year 1 of an undergraduare degree after obtaining  your Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSE). As this qualifications is considered equivalent to UK A-Levels you can find the specific requirements of each programme using our online prospectus here

Engineering and Science subjects will require specific subjects, but students from any stream can apply for courses in Aston Business School.  

English language requirements for undergraduate courses.

Postgraduate - Masters

You should have at least a good degree from recognised universities: GPA 3.2/5 or 2.6/4 or 2:1. The specific percentage requirement will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the Tanzanian university from which you have graduated. 

If you are applying for finance, engineering or science based subjects, you must have studied a similar field in your undergraduate degree.

There are a number of conversion courses in the Business School which will accept students from any subject background.

Postgraduate - MBA 

You can come from any subject background, but should have at least a good degree from recognised universities: GPA 3.2/5 or 2.6/4 or 2:1 and a minimum of three years post graduation managerial work experience, as stipulated by the Association of MBA (AMBA) requirements.

Postgraduate - Research 

Each of Aston's Schools of Study has a number of research groups with the potential to host PhD students. Research specialisms include finance, economics, marketing, organisational psychology, bioenergy, knowledge engineering, photonics, languages, biomedical sciences, neurosciences, health sciences and more.
