Scholarships for Indian Students - 2015

Aston University and the British Council India are delighted to announce postgraduate scholarships for self-financing Indian students looking to study with us in September 2015.

We are offering scholarships in the following courses:

3 x scholarships for MSc International Business worth £3000 each in value

1 x scholarship for our Aston MBA worth £6000 in value

2 x scholarships for any MSc Engineering course worth £7500 each in value

Aston University's links with India

Indian students have been studying at Aston for a number years and each year we welcome many more new students. We currently have 236 Indian students studying at Aston University. Notable alumni include Debargho Sarkar and Rajesh Subramanian who are our MBA alumni ambassadors for India.

Staff regularly visit India to work with our partner institutions, International Management Institute, New Delhi and Vidyalankar School of Information Technology, and take part in international conferences. Our School of Engineering and Applied Science take part in the annual Sterling Tour and our Vice Chancellor Professor Julia King is a regular visitor to India.

Undergraduate 

You can apply for Year 1 of an undergraduate degree after graduation from the Indian High School Certificate. 

Admissions tutors are looking for high marks in standard 10 and 12. The marks required vary depending on which Indian board you studied and which subject you are applying to. In general applicants should score in the range of 75-85% average as a minimum.

Some degree programmes, such as engineering, sciences and languages, require specific subject backgrounds.  Others, including business and some social sciences, are appropriate for students from any previous subject combination.   

English language requirements for undergraduate courses.

Postgraduate - Taught 
You can apply for a 1 year Masters programme with an undergraduate degree from an overseas institution. 

You should at least have a first class degree from an Indian university.  The specific percentage requirement will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the Indian university which you have graduated from.

If you are applying for finance, engineering, science or social science based subjects; you must have studied a similar field in your undergraduate degree.  There are a number of conversion programmes in business and management which are appropriate for students from any subject background. 

English language requirements for taught postgraduate programmes.

Postgraduate - MBA
You can apply for the MBA programme with an undergraduate degree, in any subject area, from an overseas institution and a minimum of three years post graduation managerial work experience.  You should have at least a first class degree from an Indian university.

Postgraduate - Research

You can apply for a research degree programme with an undergraduate degree from an overseas institution. 

You should at least have a first class degree from an Indian university.  The specific percentage requirement will vary depending on the course you are applying for at Aston and the Indian university which you have graduated from.

Each of Aston's Schools of Study has a number of research groups with the potential to host PhD students. Research specialisms include finance, economics, marketing, organisational psychology, bioenergy, knowledge engineering, photonics, languages, biomedical sciences, neurosciences, health sciences and more. 

You have to submit a detailed research proposal outlining your intended research topic, its objectives, proposed method of research and an indication of how the proposed research topic relates to previous work by other researchers. Find out more on Aston's Postgraduate research pages
