Aston is proud to offer support for the very best of our students. Our range of MBA scholarships are designed to recognise and support the most talented MBA applicants who have the potential to become successful business leaders.
"By investing in your future today, we aim to help you achieve your potential and become the most enterprising global leaders of tomorrow." Professor George Feiger, Executive Dean of Aston Business School
Scholarships towards tuition fees, of a minimum of 10% and up to a maximum of 50% of the full fee, are available for talented self-funded candidates who can demonstrate high academic, professional, managerial or leadership potential via the application documents, the interview and a submitted video.
In order to be eligible to apply for a scholarship award, applicants will need to:
Be a self-funded student
Meet the requirements for entry onto the Aston MBA
Submit a two-minute video (details below) within two weeks of offer, for consideration by a panel of senior University staff
NB No scholarship can be awarded retrospectively; all scholarship applications will only be considered if videos are submitted within 2 weeks of receiving an offer to the MBA programme. All first decisions are final and not subject to appeal. It is highly encouraged that you submit your scholarship video with your MBA application.
Candidates who wish to be considered for a scholarship are required to prepare a two-minute video to be submitted within two weeks of an offer to the course. The video should:
Be no longer than two minutes in length
Consist of a personal sales pitch, telling the panel what sets you apart from other MBA applicants
Most importantly, demonstrate specific examples of high achievement in your academic studies, professional career and managerial experience, showing your leadership potential
Please send your video via www.dropbox.com to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please do not send directly via email as the file will be too large. It is free to use www.dropbox.com.
In assessing an eligible student for the receipt of an Aston Business School scholarship, we will take into consideration:
Leadership potential– we look for evidence of a proven history of leadership and management
CV and career history to date, looking particularly at evidence of career progression and management experience
Ambition and the potential to make a significant contribution to business and to society after graduation
Academic merit based on previous qualifications
Demonstrable qualities which show the desire and potential to become a successful ambassador for the School during and after their studies
Scholarship applications will be considered in the order in which they are received so we would encourage all interested candidates to apply to the programme as early as possible, and submit the video no later than two weeks after receiving an offer. It is highly encouraged that you submit your scholarship video with your MBA application.
An interview to consider suitability for award of a scholarship will be conducted by the Careers Adviser or MBA Director. Decisions will be made within 48 hours of the interview.
Executive (Part-Time) and Online MBA Candidates
Executive (Part-Time) and Online MBA candidates will not be asked to attend an interview; decisions will be made on the basis of the application documents and the submitted video.
Successful candidates are most likely to be those who would expect to be in the top 10% of the MBA cohort, and have substantial evidence of past leadership success and/or future leadership potential. They will also demonstrate a strong personal brand and network evidenced by their CV and social media channels such as LinkedIn.
Students in receipt of an Aston Business School scholarship, as the brightest and best of our students, will go on to become advocates for the School. We expect that they will work hard to achieve their potential in their MBA studies, their extra-curricular activities and their future career aspirations.
We will also expect recipients to undertake ambassadorial duties including, but not limited to:
Meeting potential students at Open Day sessions
Taking part in webinars and live chat sessions with potential applicants
Providing testimonials and video content for the website and promotional materials
Participating in recruitment fairs in their home country after graduation
Aston Alumni Bursaries
We will award a bursary of 20% of the full fee for all those who completed their first degree at Aston University. The bursary will be reflected in your fees which will be shown in the offer e-mail.
Aston Alumni may also apply for the other ABS scholarships to a maximum award of 50% of the full fee.
The Economist MBA Scholarship Contest
The contest is open to all prospective MBA or EMBA students worldwide. The winner will be the student who scores the highest on The Economist GMAT Tutor simulation test.
The simulated GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) exam utilises adaptive technology similar to that of the real GMAT, so the difficulty level adjusts according to the test-taker's ability.
The winning student will be awarded a $25,000 scholarship towards tuition to one of the business school sponsors.
The contest will close at 11:59pm on October 31, 2014. The winner will be announced on November 17th. Five randomly selected runners-up will receive a free iPad mini.
