The Estates Sustainability Group was created in 2016 in order to embed Sustainability into other Estates practices as well as have more senior level support. This group includes the Director of Estates, Head of Space Strategy and Refurbishment, Estates Engineering Manager, Head Of Estates Facilities And Resources and the Energy, Environment and Sustainability Team.
The group will go through the current status of the Carbon Management Plan and Energy Forecasting in line with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 requirements.
As part of the Carbon Management Plan a number of projects have been identified in line with a budget of £500,000 per year for the next 5 years to help meet our targets. Furthermore a Salix Revolving Green Fund budget of around £80,000-90,000 a year goes towards smaller projects. Finally, there is a small awareness budget for events. All projects need to have a business case and go to University Executive Committee to be approved..
There are opportunities for other departments to highlight energy saving projects that would be funded through the above resource and this will be investigated reviewed on a case per case bases.
