I was appointed in May 2015 as Senior Engineer in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, to manage a 0.5 MW power plant at the European Bioenergy Research Institute.

The plant is able to provide heat, electricity and cooling to EBRI and other buildings in the campus. My responsibilities include:

- Preventive and corrective maintenance

- Project management of plant improvements

- Health and safety

- Plant documentation

- Procurement and contract management

I am supervising the engineering jobs and producing the plant documentation (P&IDs, control operating philosophies) to complete the risks assessments (HazOps) and improve the performance of the different subsystems:

- 400 kW combined heat and power engine,

- 300 kg/h gasification plant

- 100 kg/h pyrolysis plant

At EBRI I actively contribute to the success different research projects, and was the Coordinator of the Pyrogas project during its last period.

Before joining EBRI I was Head of the Biomass Department at the Science and Technology Park of Albacete in Spain, where I lead the commissioning of a pellet mill (100 kg/h), a biomass boiler (50 kW), a fluidized bed gasifier and a fully equipped biofuels laboratory.

During my PhD I specialised in the use of producer gas from biomass gasification and its combustion properties. As a Postdoc at the University of Leeds I studied the knock tendency of a spark ignition engine fuelled with producer gas from gasification.
