I am a lecturer in the Computer Science group of Aston University, which I joined in 2010, having completed my PhD in Aston's Non-linearity and Complexity Research Group.
I am the programme director of BSc Computer Software Development and co-director of BSc Business Information Systems.
My main research interests are in swarm intelligence, swarm robotics and continuous optimization. I focus on developing novel algorithms for generating scalable, intelligent behaviour in swarms of very limited capacity, individuals on frameworks for complex task-allocation in spatially distributed swarms. I am also interested in how hetrogeneity and dynamics can be used to improve the design of collective systems.
