Wei Zhang received his B.Sc degree and M.Sc in Electronics Engineering from Southeast University in 1983 and 1988, and Ph.D degree in Electrical Engineering in 1996 from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China.
From 1988 to 1992 he worked as a research engineer at the Nanjing Institute of Instrumentation Components and Devices, China where he was engaged in the research. design and development of optical measurement instruments and optical fibre sensors. From 1992 to 1996 he was with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China, working on optical fibre sensing techniques in electricity industry. From 1995 to 1997, as a visiting research fellow in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Information Engineering of City University, U.K. he carried out a joint project on optical current measurement system sponsored by British Council.
He currently is with the Photonics Research Group at Aston University, working on an EPSRC funded project exploiting fibre grating technology and investigating microwave and millimetre wave signal processing in-fibre using Bragg grating.
