Yuchun joined the Aston School of Engineering and Applied Science in July 2017. His main background is in manufacturing engineering, mechatronics, instrumentation, and operations management. Prior to Aston, Yuchun worked as a lecturer in Manufacturing Division at Cranfield University. Even before, Yuchun mainly worked as postdoctoral researcher in Queen’s University Belfast, Cardiff University in UK, and Tianjin University in China. Yuchun also worked in IT industry shortly in Shanghai, China before he moved to UK in 2002.
Yuchun’s main research interest and activities include: Industry 4.0, Digital & Intelligent Manufacturing, Sustainable Design and Manufacturing, Integrated Maintenance, Product Lifecycle Engineering, Cost Engineering, and Operations Management. His research work are closely linked with industry, including Rolls-Royce, Airbus, QinetiQ, and Network Rail etc.
