Profile

I started my PhD at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences in October 2011, under the supervision of Dr. Gareth Griffiths. I hold a BSc degree in Botany from the University of Khartoum, Sudan and an MPhil degree in Plant Biochemistry from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, UK.

I have taken a number of teaching and academic positions in the past, including 3 years as a part-time teaching assistant with the faculty of science at the University of Khartoum, Sudan

My current research interest is focused on clean energy and improving the potentials for algae as a future source of biofuel.

Research interests

My PhD project investigates methods of increasing algal biomass for biofuel production using the green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii as a model system.
