We’re keen to make sure postgraduate students have the best possible experience while studying at Aston University. To do that we need to know what you think we are doing well and what we can do better. We strongly encourage postgraduate students to take part in the national Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES). The more responses we get, the more we learn about how we can enhance our postgraduate provision. Teaching staff in your School also find the anonymised feedback very useful. Here are the answers to questions often asked about PTES:
The Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) is a national survey run in partnership with the Higher Education Academy (HEA). The results of the survey are used to help the University enhance the student experience of postgraduate students. The questionnaire takes around 15 minutes to complete.
If you are an eligible taught postgraduate student, this is your chance to tell us your thoughts about your programme. It is also your opportunity to tell us what you liked about your time here and things you feel could be improved.
Your feedback is important. Over 100 universities and colleges take part in PTES, so we can compare your experience against similar postgraduates at other institutions to see if we are supporting your learning as we should. The survey is confidential, and the findings are aggregated with other students' responses, so your responses will not be identifiable. We use the findings to improve our courses and the learning experience for future students. At School level, action has been taken to address specific feedback on campus-based and distance learning programmes.
PTES will ask you about the whole learning experience: learning and teaching, assessment, organisation, learning resources, guidance, support, careers, and skills. It will also ask you about aspects of the student experience that are specific to Aston University.
You will receive an email with a link to the questionnaire on Wednesday 15th March. Simply click on the link or access via MAP to complete the online form. The survey will close mid June 2017.
If you are unsure about anything to do with the survey, or have any difficulty, please contact Lucy Jenkins in the Market Research Office by email: email@example.com
As a ‘thank you’ for taking part, you will be automatically entered into a prize where you will have the chance of winning one of two top prizes of £150 in cash, or one of ten £10 Amazon vouchers.
