Tier 1 Entrepreneur

For highly skilled migrants who want to set up or take over, and be actively involved in the running of, a business in the UK.

You will need 95 points. Visit the UKBA website for more details.

The UK Visas and Immigration website also provides guidance for supporting documents needed when applying for a Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa from outside the UK.

With effect from 13 December 2012, Tier 4 students are not allowed to switch (move) directly from Tier 4 into Tier 1 Entrepreneur unless they have secured £50,000 from a specified source. Instead Tier 4 students will be expected to use the Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur route.

From 31st January 2013 all initial applications under Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) will be subject to a 'genuine entrepreneur' test which will enable the UKBA to refuse applications where they are not convinced on the balance of probabilities that an applicant genuinely intends to and is able to establish, take over or become a director of one or more businesses in the UK within the initial 6 months following entry.  For further details of this and other changes please visit the UKBA website
