What is HOST?
HOST is an organisation offering international and EU/EEA students the opportunity to be a guest in a British home. The hosts are volunteers who provide a friendly welcome and enjoy meeting people from other countries. All volunteers are checked and approved by HOST. To apply for a visit, please contact HOST and follow their application procedure.
How do I pay?
You should apply to HOST in the usual way through their website. You will then need to make a payment to Aston for your contribution to the cost of the visit.
How much does it cost?
HOST is a charity organisation, and to cover administrative costs the fees you pay will depend on the duration and time of your visit. Visits with HOST can be arranged for the weekend or just for a day (which means you will not stay overnight with your host).
Aston University is currently subsidizing the cost of these trips and will pay half of the administrative costs.
However, we will only be subsidizing half of the cost until 31st July 2015. From 1st August 2015 students will have to pay the full costs of the trip to HOST.
Information for applications made before 31st July 2015
The fees are as follows:
The charges for weekend visits will be as follows:
HOST Charge £60
If this is your first HOST visit, you pay: £30
The charges for day visits will be as follows:
HOST Charge £36
If this is your first HOST visit, you pay: £18
These lower administrative fees are only available for your first trip arranged with HOST, any trips after this will require the full HOST charge, still to be paid to Aston University. Please note that Aston University has a restriction on the number of students who can benefit from the lower administrative fee, which is limited to 8 students per category. This will be on a first come first serve basis so we suggest you to apply early if you wish to take HOST visit.
