The Advice Zone helps with student related issues such as council tax, student funding, scholarships and bursaries, placement funding, changing academic course and support for students from a care background as well as having a specialist immigration team to assist with Tier 4 student visas and work visas.

The Counselling Service provides counselling for students and staff, runs a range of workshops and on-line chat sessions (e.g. Managing Student Stress, Dealing with Loss). It offers a consultation service to staff who may have concerns regarding a student’s wellbeing. Counselling prefer to see students by appointment although they endeavour to deal with urgent cases on the day if necessary.

The Enabling Team provides a confidential advice and support service for students who experience a range of disabilities, medical conditions and additional needs. This support includes advice on finding funding for disability related support, and arranging diagnostic assessments for dyslexia and other specific learning differences. The Visa Compliance Team manage the relationship between UK Visas & Immigration (the Home Office) and the University. They ensure that the University fulfills all its legal responsibilities including monitoring that international students have the correct visa and are attending their course. The Visa Compliance Team do not provide student visa advice. This is handled by the immigration team in the Hub Advice Zone.

The ARC is Aston Students' Union's independent representation service. It provides advice and support with academic appeals, exam board jeopardy hearings, financial information, and disciplinary matters. The ARC is the place to contact for lists of off-campus accommodation via Aston Studentpad.

Sometimes students may be asked by the University to provide a medical note from their Doctor or GP; for example, as evidence in an Exceptional Circumstances submission.
Aston University students can obtain a contribution of up to £20 towards charges made for Doctors or GP notes. Please complete this form if you have been charged for a medical note and would like to apply for a contribution.
Students are able to discuss matters concerning the payment of their tuition or residence fees at the centre as well as make their fee payments. The University chaplains serve all students and staff of the University, no matter what religion is followed and irrespective of whether someone has a religious faith or not. The University holds a Mature Student's Welcome Induction. The induction, organised and hosted by the Learner Enhancement Team, is an opportunity for students to visit the university before term starts, resolve any worries, develop their study skills and help them to make the most of their time at university. Even if they miss the induction, please refer mature students to us. There is a mature students' society and a common room in the Students' Union.
