Technology-Enhanced Learning TEL

The Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) team within the Centre for Learning Innovation and Professional Practice (CLIPP) works in partnership with the Schools and Central Services to provide advice, training, and support to staff engaged in embedding technology-enhanced learning into teaching practice, learning, curriculum development and assessment practice to improve the student experience and to optimise their individual outcomes.  

The Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) team support the University’s Teaching and Learning Strategy and the associated Digital Learning Strategy. The team’s main priorities are set out in the Action Plan for Implementation of the Digital Learning Strategy.

We provide leadership in learning and teaching innovation and promote the development of digital learning, digital capabilities, and flexible and work-based curriculum delivery through: 

  • The Teaching and Learning Community (TLC) webpages – a community of practice to support the sharing of innovation and good practice
  • Application Support – technical support for supported systems
  • Staff Development and Training – TEL induction sessions for new members of staff, face-to-face staff development sessions for individuals, small and large groups, and online ‘how to’ guides explaining how a range of learning technologies can be used to enhance the student experience
  • Learning Design – advice and guidance helping staff with the pedagogical and practical aspects of learning design, instructional systems design, and online curriculum development
  • Content Development – small-scale project work in partnership with Schools and other service providers

 

We support:

  • Blackboard Learn - the University's virtual learning environment;
  • Blackboard Collaborate - the University's online collaboration tool;
  • Turnitin - online marking and feedback and text checking;
  • Panopto (Aston Replay) - lecture and event capture;
  • Kaltura - the University's online video platform.

We offer a variety of staff training and development sessions to colleagues across the University including TEL induction sessions for new members of staff, face-to-face staff development sessions for individuals, small and large groups, and online ‘how to’ guides explaining how a range of learning technologies can be used to enhance the student experience.
