5 step guide to Clearing

Aston clearing guide

In summer, there are two kinds of people. Those who put it all on results day and those who plan their next move. Which are you?

The Clearing hotline opens at 7am, 17 August. Are you ready? It’s a big year. Universities are expected to have record numbers of places available and not enough students to fill them. That’s very good news for you, but only if you know how to play the game.

You’re already ahead of the competition. You’d make a great Aston student. Say “hello” to professional placements, great career prospects and graduates that earn more. It’s all yours for the taking. So, are you ready?

It’s time to make your move.

1. Take some time. Do your research

Right now, you have the luxury of time. Time to think, time to plan, time to identify your targets. Write your strategy. What will you do if you

  • do better than expected?
  • don’t do as well as you expected?
  • have a change of heart?

Have an answer for each of these. We have a lot of courses in Clearing this year. Which ones will take you where you want to be?

While the phones are quiet, now is the time to ask questions. You can do this through any of our course pages.

2. Say hello to Aston Uni

The Clearing hotline opens at 7am,17 August, call us on 0121 204 4444. All we need is:

  • Your grades
  • Your UCAS number

You can private message us on Facebook or Twitter to apply as well. It is 2017 after all.

3. Accept your place on UCAS Track

Once we’ve made you an offer, add Aston University (A80) as an option on UCAS Track.

You then need to accept your place on UCAS Track. This option may take a short time to appear, but don’t worry. The Admissions team will update your status the same day you are made an offer.

4. Visit campus

We’re running tours on the following dates:

  • Thursday 17th August 1pm-4pm
  • Friday 18th August 10am-2pm
  • Saturday 19th August 10am-2pm
  • Monday 21st August 10am-2pm
  • Tuesday 22nd August 10am-2pm

A big part of uni is where you study. Visiting campus is a critical part of your Clearing plan. Get a feel for the place on a guided afternoon with:

  • accommodation tours
  • student ambassadors
  • full access to campus services

You meet us in the Main Reception at 10am and we’ll take care of the rest.

5. Apply for accommodation

You need somewhere to live.

Once you have your place, you can apply for campus accommodation. You will need your Student ID Number. This can take up to 48 hours to get to you.

You can secure your room online.
