We're proud of our teaching excellence and the TEF Gold award we received in 2017. And we’re just as proud of our research impact. According to REF 2014, 78% of our research is rated as internationally excellent and world leading. Our graduate employability is an impressive 80%. As a result, we’re consistently ranked in the UK’s top 40 universities. And we’ll continue to have the highest aspirations for everyone we work with. So when you join us, you’ll have an immediate impact – on both our students and our research. Make the future work for everyone – including yourself.

We also have a reputation for developing employable graduates. This is underpinned by our integrated placement year, with 72% of our undergraduates taking a placement or pre-registration year.
The investment Aston makes in its students means that the journey from enrolment to graduation transforms their career prospects.
We invest in our teaching staff, so that they can deliver an inspirational and relevant learning experience. New staff without teaching qualifications are required to enrol on a Higher Education Academy (HEA) accredited teaching qualification. By 2020, 95% of our academic staff will be accredited by the HEA.
Areas that Aston’s research groups are renowned for include: photonics, forensic linguistics, the automotive industry, European politics, healthy ageing, artificial intelligence, antimicrobial resistance, servitization and bioenergy. The 2014 REF recognised Aston as a great place for researchers, with 100% of Modern Languages and Linguistics, Business and Allied Health's submissions rated at 3* or 4* for Environment.
The campus is within 5-10 minutes’ walk of the main shopping, business and entertainment areas of the city - the UK’s most vibrant city and Europe’s youngest. Over the past seven years, Aston has undergone a £350 million campus redevelopment, with over £10 million of investment in refurbished laboratory space for STEM subjects.
As a university, we hold a bronze award from the Athena Swan charter, with our School of Engineering and Applied Science achieving a silver award.
The features include a pension, generous holiday and leave and a commitment to the development of its staff to help them in their current roles and to progress to future roles.
Aston has a supportive, encouraging and entrepreneurial culture and is a university with big ambitions, with Aston Medical School’s first cohort enrolling in September 2018.
