Aston University Business Partnership Unit is holding an exhibition and networking event, featuring a poster competition and showcase of our Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) and Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise Networks (KEEN) on Wednesday 2nd April 2014 from 5-7pm.
KTP is a UK-wide programme enabling businesses to improve their competitiveness, productivity and performance by accessing the knowledge and expertise available within UK Universities. KTP’s can make a huge impact on the businesses involved. Business performance outputs vary considerable from case to case, but in 2011/2012, the anticipated increase in pre-tax annual profit after the project completion was £366,000. 90% of businesses felt that the results achieved through participating in a KTP would play a significant part in improving the future performance of their business.
KEEN are a regional initiative part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) targeted at helping West Midlands SMEs increase profitability and growth through working with a regional university. Aston has many successful collaborative projects in a variety of subject areas including product design and development, photonics, optometry, operations and information management and many more. The event is an opportunity to learn more about the exciting and innovative projects that Aston is currently involved with, discover how we are working in partnership with local and national companies and find out more about how KTP and KEEN could help your business to grow.
The event will include a poster competition, with posters prepared by teams working on these projects. Dr Debbie Buckley-Golder, Head of Research Engagement, and Dr Clive Hayter, Head of Knowledge Transfer Partnerships at the Technology Strategy Board, will be judging the competition along with Aston’s Dr Phil Extance, Pro Vice Chancellor for Business Partnerships and Knowledge Transfer. Professor Helen Higson, Aston’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor will award prizes to the competition winners at the end of the night. The event also provides an opportunity to network with some of Aston’s academics, representatives from business and the teams who are working on the KTP and KEEN projects.
