Aston University is holding a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Showcase Event on Wednesday 20th March 2013.
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) is a UK-wide programme enabling businesses to improve their competitiveness, productivity and performance by accessing the knowledge and expertise available within UK Universities.
KTP’s can make a huge impact on the businesses involved. For every £1m of government expenditure on Knowledge Transfer Partnerships graded in 2010-11, the average benefit to business participants amounted to a projected £3.08m rise in annual profit before tax and £1.35m investment in plant and machinery, with 23 new jobs created and 196 company staff trained.
Aston University is currently working with organisations on 14 KTP projects with many others recently completed or about to get underway. This high level of activity has seen Aston placed as the highest provider of KTP’s in the West Midlands and at 9th nationally for KTP’s according to figures released by the Technology Strategy Board.
The event is an opportunity to learn more about the exciting and innovative projects that Aston is currently involved with, discover how we are working in partnership with local and national companies and find out more about how KTPs could help your business to grow.
The event will also showcase projects launched through the Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise Network (KEEN) initiative which is a new business improvement programme, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), designed to help West Midlands based SMEs increase their profitability and achieve growth through working with a regional University.
The event will include a poster competition and an opportunity to network with academics, representatives from business and the KTP Associates who are working on the projects.
Debbie Buckley-Golder, Head of Knowledge Exchange at the Technology Strategy Board, will be judging the competition with Professor Dame Julia King, Vice-Chancellor, awarding prizes to competition winners at the end of the night.
Date: Wednesday 20th March 2013
Venue: Lakeside Conference Centre, Aston University Campus
