Aston University host Midlands MBA recruitment fair

Aston recently hosted the Midlands MBA recruitment fair at Birmingham Science Park. The event was run in collaboration with Birmingham Business School, Nottingham Business School and Leicester School of Management.

The purpose of the event is to raise the profile of the Business Schools and develop the already strong relationships with hiring managers at national and international organisations. In challenging economic times recruitment becomes a critical activity as many organisations cannot afford to make mistakes.

The Midlands MBA recruitment fair highlights the opportunities that do exist, both domestically and internationally, and the strength of collaborative working across Universities.

Over 18 employers were in attendance, including Accenture, GE, Bloomberg and DHL. In addition to company presentations, students from all Business Schools were able to speak directly with employers and showcase their skills and experience.

Building on the success of the previous year’s fair, students were able to discuss a wide range of opportunities and even apply for positions that are normally restricted to online applicants.

One Global leadership programme recruiter even had over 30 strong candidates that are due to be formally offered interviews for roles in September.

James Wright, Corporate Relations Manager at Aston Business School said “It was great to see so many discussions about opportunities with companies we can work with effectively in the future and build even stronger recruitment links. The response from students and employers has been fantastic and I know of three companies who are now close to resolving difficult recruitment challenges at home and overseas”.
