Night out in Birmingham

There are so many places to go, and so much to do that you will always be spoilt for choice... Spend an evening in a canalside bar, head to a traditional pub or check out a club. Don't forget that many places run popular student nights, with special discounts and offers.

There are numerous pubs and bars in and around the city centre. Broad Street, Brindley Place and the Mailbox are popular areas and have lots of places to eat and drink beside the canals, for example Bliss, Living Room, Bank, Oh Velvet!, Bar Epernay and Pitcher & Piano. Numerous pre-club bars like Indi Bar, Walkabout, Revolution Bar and SoBar are also open late. Birmingham also has a vibrant gay and lesbian scene, with dozens of bars and clubs centred round Hurst Street.

Birmingham is bursting with clubs playing anything from dance, house, indie, drum and bass and jungle, to hard rock, 80s, 90s, lounge, soul, jazz and garage. Clubs like Mechu, Risa, Gatecrasher and Rococo Lounge play host to top DJs and attract clubbers from across the UK. The Birmingham O2 Academy and HMV Institute attract big name indie, R&B and dance acts, as well as hosting club and student nights throughout the week. Find out more about live music in Birmingham.

Staying close to campus, rumour has it that there are 100 pubs within a one-mile radius of Aston, so there’s never too far to go!
