Congratulations: EREBUS CASE researchers graduate.

Jim Scott and Daniel Wright,  EREBUS CASE researchers  will receive their PhD this year. Their CASE award research entitled,  Developing a Decision Framework for Strategic Sourcing of Biomass and Decision Support for Life cycle Planning and Risk Management of Small Scale Biomass CHP projects in the UK, respectively, has given them unique insight into the challenges faced by the bio-energy industry today. Both have recently taken up positions at the European Bioenergy Institute (EBRI), Aston University.

ESRC Capacity Building Cluster Summit Conference 2013
On June 25th and 26th the EREBUS team successfully hosted the ESRC National Summit Conference bringing together all seven ESRC-funded UK capacity-building research clusters. The event enabled cluster members to showcase their research, share good practice and reflect on experiences in collaborative research. The event was attended by representatives from the ESRC, the TSB as well as participants and presenters from the 19 UK universities from the ESRC capacity building cluster initiative. Further details about this event can be found here.

Dr. Howard Lightfoot has joined the EREBUS management team as a Research Fellow in Business Transformation.

Howard’s role is to collect data from each of the individual EREBUS projects, by working with the students, associates, academic and company supervisors. This is to ensure that the lessons learned from the EREBUS project about maximising the impact of university-industry collaboration, are not lost.

Howard has held academic research positions at Cranfield, Loughborough and Cambridge Universities previously. He has also held senior management positions in industry (including Marconi, Volex and several SMEs). He has over 25 years’ experience in international business development experience gained in Western Europe, USA and the Far East. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. We are pleased that he has joined us on a two year part-time basis located at the Aston Business School.
