Research Areas

The research of the group falls under the disciplines of work psychology, organisational behaviour, organisation studies and human resource management.

The research activities of the group fall under the following three themes.

The group’s research involves:
  • Uniqueness of scale (e.g., the annual NHS staff survey involves over 200,000 staff; the GLOBE research is spread across 62 countries; and compilation of cross-national HRM volumes involving over 45 countries)
  • Applied outcomes (such as intergroup effectiveness and productivity)
  • Breadth of methods (surveys, field studies, experiments, multi-level analysis, cross-national and cross-cultural studies)
The intention is to advance understanding of the social and psychological processes involving people and organisational management to influence both individual and organisational effectiveness via innovation and learning at the workplace; and thereby to contribute to the development of relevant psychological and organisational theory and practice.
