We will give full and equal consideration to applicants with a wide range of qualifications and would welcome applications from students offering such qualifications as:

  • Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers
  • Irish Leaving Certificate
  • International Baccalaureate
  • European Baccalaureate
  • Access programmes
  • A/AS levels
  • National Diplomas/Certificates and Awards
  • German Abitur
  • French Baccalaureate

For international applicants please go to international entry requirements. All applicants must apply through UCAS.

Please check our course profiles for individual entry requirements via our degree programmes list. If you need advice about whether your qualification is suitable please contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office at absugentry@aston.ac.uk

A-Levels

Our typical offer is ABB to AAB (320 - 340 UCAS tariff points in 3 A-Level subjects, excluding General Studies).  Extra A-Levels cannot be used to meet the required number of tariff points, but additional  A-Levels and AS Levels may be taken into consideration in some circumstances.

GCSEs

Our minimum requirement is 5 GCSE subjects grades A-C (including Maths and English Language).  Meeting this requirement means that you are eligible to apply, but does not automatically guarantee that an offer will be made.

Key Skills

Key Skills will not be included within any points offer, however, once you have received your results if you narrowly miss the entry requirements we may take Key Skills into account.

Please note that Key Skills qualifications cannot be accepted in place of GCSE Maths and English Language.

International Business and Modern Languages Programmes

Please note that the IBML programmes are not suitable for native level speakers or for students who have received schooling in French, German or Spanish language.

Mature students

If you are over 21 then you are classed as a potential mature student. If you want to study a degree but do not have traditional qualifications then you will usually need to provide us with other evidence to support your application. This could be successful recent study in relevant subjects, and/or relevant professional qualifications or experience of a high academic standard. If you have studied A-Levels in recent years we would normally expect you to have obtained the required total tariff points of 340 points in 3 A-Level subjects. If you would like to know more please contact the Admissions Office: absugentry@aston.ac.uk

The majority of mature students who are studying at Aston Business School have studied an Access to Business Higher Education qualification. If you are studying an Access course you may be required to attend an interview prior to a decision being made on your application.

Transferring to the Second Year from another University

Most students requesting direct entry on to the second year of our degree programmes can only be offered first year entry.

The first year at Aston Business School offers a prescribed set of modules which are specifically designed to provide a good foundation in various aspects of business and management and maximum flexibility in the choice of second and final year modules. As few other universities offer exactly the same first year modules as Aston Business School, students transferring directly into the second year would either find themselves lacking knowledge in certain essential areas or facing severe restrictions in their choice of second and final year modules.

Students wishing to transfer to either the first or second year of Aston Business School degrees must have gained the 340 tariff points in 3 subjects required for entry to the first year of our degree programmes (see top of page). We will also check the first year modules that you have studied previously to ensure that the modules are the similar to our own.

If you feel that you have the necessary requirements to enter the second year, please e-mail the following details to absugentry@abs.ac.uk

  • Modules you will be doing in your first year at university and any marks/grades obtained so far
  • Qualifications you did before entering university and marks/grades you achieved
  • English Language and Mathematics qualifications you hold
