ABS student awarded prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship
Md. Rezaul Kabir, a PhD student of Aston Business School has been awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, UK. Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) is one of the most prestigious and highly competitive scholarships schemes for international study in the world. The Plan was established at the first Commonwealth Education Conference in 1959 and is reviewed by education ministers at their triennial meetings – the only scholarship scheme in the world to receive such high-level recognition.
Before embarking on his PhD programme, Rezaul completed his MSc degree in Accounting & Finance with distinction at Aston University. His doctoral research focuses on the area of corporate sustainability reporting and practice from the perspective of developing countries. His doctoral supervisors are Dr. Ataur Belal and Dr. Stuart Cooper.
He has served on several different committees of Aston University, including the Aston Business School Board, Postgraduate Teaching Committee, and Aston Champion Team as a student representative. He was also the president of Aston Business School Research Students Society. By becoming a Commonwealth Scholar in the United Kingdom, he is going to follow the tradition of almost 19,000 individuals all over the world since the scheme began in 1959.
