MBA strategic consultancy projects

When the ‘urgent’ overwhelms the ‘important’: often things get in the way of undertaking the strategic tasks which can significantly drive your organisation forward.

Why not see if your organisation could benefit from a talented Aston Business School (ABS) MBA student to undertake a specific strategic project for you? Not only a fresh and experienced perspective, but also an extremely cost-effective way to bridge a resource gap in these tightened times.

It’s sometimes hard to find the resource for important but relatively complex tasks. Like the costly process which needs investigating. Or perhaps, just taking time out to research and plan the strategic direction of a business unit or initiative.

Talented students from the MBA programme could be the ideal solution. As part of their studies, participants have the opportunity to go out into organisations and deliver real results with a discrete strategic consultancy project. In 2010 students worked with a range of local and international organisations; such as IBM, Wragge & Co and Jaguar Land Rover as well as local SMEs.

Great for the MBA student, as they cement their learning with valuable experience from the “real world”; even better for your organisation because you get high quality consultancy, at a fraction of what it would normally cost. All backed up by the experience of academics within one of the top business schools in the world.*

Previously projects were only available in the summer. However, ABS has recognised that despite green shoots of recovery, many firms and organisations are now running a ‘tight ship’ with little resource for strategic improvements.

Therefore ABS are now offering a new Interim Strategic Projects Service where recent MBA graduates can use their augmented expertise (an average of six years’ professional experience prior to their MBA) to help organisations move forward with plans that might otherwise be shelved.
