24 February 2011

On Wednesday 16 February Aston Business School held a Beta Gamma Sigma honour society event, in the Sumpner Lecture Theatre at Aston University.

'Be ambitious, think positive and don’t be afraid of challenges'. This was the message to students from Chris Banks CBE, one of Aston Business School’s most successful MBA Alumni. Mr Banks was keynote speaker at the Beta Gamma Sigma awards ceremony, which each year celebrates the academic achievements of staff and students.  Chris Banks was awarded the Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter Honoree Award for his continued engagement with the school.

Beta Gamma Sigma award winners made their way to the front of the room as their names were called out. Two members of academic staff at ABS were honoured BGS membership; Professor Nigel Driffield (Head of The Economics & Strategy Group) and Dr Neeru Malhotra (Senior Lecturer from the Marketing Group). Two undergraduate final year business students were awarded the BGS awards; Sihui Zeng, the Student Leadership Forum Award and Pawel Seweryn, the Student Scholarship Award.

20 undergraduate student achievers attended and were presented their awards, sponsored by companies, each leader in their respective professional sectors. The list included: British Telecom, Ernst and Young, Deloitte, British Gas, Flybe, TUI Travel PLC, Aston Business School and several more. The ceremony was presented by Professor John Edwards, Ms Elaine Clarke, Dr Gary Simpson and Dr David Saal.

The evening was a great success and all guests enjoyed the networking opportunity with ABS staff, students, company representatives and Chris Banks. It was wonderful to celebrate the 6th year anniversary of having established our Beta Gamma Sigma collegiate chapter here at ABS.
