Our Carillion Leadership Programme cohort completed their fourth and final module last week.
Matt Davies, Lecturer in in Finance and Accounting with the Finance and Accounting Group at Aston Business School delivered the two day module on Business Performance at Carillion’s premises in Wolverhampton.
During the module the participants have become familiar with the fundamental concepts of business performance measures, including interpreting financial statements, accounting systems and rules and how to understand and manage cash flow. They have gained an understanding of the different tools and concepts available to support the sound financial judgements and decisions that deliver shareholder value.
As a conclusion to the module and to reinforce the learning the cohort were asked to consider the key issues and themes raised during the module and to relate these to challenges that are being faced by themselves or the business as a whole.
Aston’s partnership with Carillion to run the Leadership Programme has lasted for over ten years. Modules are delivered over an eighteen month period, meaning that there are always three Carillion participant cohorts running concurrently. Participants learn and apply the knowledge and skills of leadership drawn from four key areas of organisational and commercial research:
- Customer Engagement
- Strategic Management
- People Management
- Business Performance.
