Aston Business Schools' Placement Office

Aston Business School has one of the largest placement programmes in the UK with nearly 600 students on placement each year. We have been managing work placements for over 30 years throughout the UK, Europe and beyond and have a very active Placement Office dedicated to helping students find a professional work placement.

The Aston Advantage

Many companies are now selecting only a small number of universities to advertise their work placement opportunities with and Aston is a priority university. Companies actively seek Aston Business School students as they are well prepared for their placement year. The practical nature of the modules in the first and second years mean students have worked with case studies, group projects and have taken part in a simulated business game, so can really hit the ground running in their placement company.

An Aston Business School Placement Student Can:

  • Work on specific business projects
  • Fill junior management positions
  • Bring enthusiasm, motivation and commitment (the placement is worth 10% of their degree)
  • Bring fresh ideas, IT skills, and analytical thinking
  • Give you more time to run your business.

Our students undertake a range of business courses from general to specialised:

Single Honours (4yr programmes with integrated placement year)

Main building aspects

BSc Joint Honours (4 yr with integrated year abroad)

BSc Joint Honours (3yr full time or 4 year placement)

  • The Placement Office is on hand for advice throughout the year
  • Each student has a Placement Tutor who will visit them at work, meet with their company supervisor and guide them through the academic work they undertake during their placement year
  • Students have access to a dedicated placement VLE for advice, support and to keep in touch with the Placement Office
  • A comprehensive Briefing Pack covering all areas of the Placement Programme is provided for placement students, supervisors and tutors.
The Placement Year makes a 10% contribution towards the students' degrees; we see the year as an integral part of the Higher Education experience. Students choose Aston because of its strong links with business and the commercial sector, and are therefore highly motivated to make the year a success.
