Professional Mentoring Scheme

Bringing the best out of tomorrow's professionals

Applications for next year's Professional Mentoring Scheme are now open. The scheme will begin in October 2014, if you are a First Year Aston University student you can apply through the online application form


The Professional Mentoring Scheme gives second year students the opportunity to be mentored by business professionals. The mentors are from a variety of disciplines such as Accountancy, Finance and Banking, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing and Management Consultancy.

The Scheme is sponsored by Lloyds Banking Group and is accredited by the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation.

To support the many disciplines involved, a diverse set of organisations are participating and include:

Accenture, Barclays, BMW Group, Chiltern Railways, Cogent Elliott, Deutsche Bank, DHL, Ernst & Young LLP, Goodyear Dunlop Tyres UK Ltd, Lloyds Banking Group, Marks & Spencer, McCann Erickson, Mitchells & Butlers, Unilever, Veolia Environmental Services (UK) PLC and many SMEs.

What does being a mentee involve?

If you are successful and are matched with a mentor, you will have to attend three compulsory events including:

  • A training session
  • Opening ceremony where you will meet your mentor
  • End of mentoring scheme celebration event

How can Prospective Mentees Join?

Applications for next year's Professional Mentoring Scheme are now open. The scheme will begin in October 2014, if you are a First Year Aston University student you can apply through the online application form.

If you are successful in joining the scheme, you will be required to attend a training session. We will contact you in August/September with details of these training sessions.
