Why did you Choose Aston?

My decision to choose Aston University was based on its strong reputation as a top university with great links to industry and a high graduate employment percentage. I was impressed by the university’s ambition, which is displayed through the ongoing development of the campus and the desire to establish the university amongst the top few in the UK. The opportunity to undertake an industrial placement was also an attraction, highlighting the university’s ability to develop the necessary skills in its students.

How have you found your experience at Aston so far?

I have had a fantastic time at Aston University so far. The people are great and everyone is willing to help each other, making studying at Aston an enjoyable experience. In every module you are given the opportunity to develop the skills which are valued by industry-leading firms, ensuring you are fully prepared when entering a competitive job market, either as a placement student or a graduate.

How did you feel when you realised you were going to be awarded a $1000 Scholarship?

I was really surprised! It wasn’t something for which I was specifically aiming, it was more a by-product of all the hard work and I am thankful for the recognition.

What does this Scholarship mean to you?

For me, the scholarship not only represents recognition of my hard work, but also the hard work of those around me. It is a real honour and I have to thank everyone who has helped me along the way. I am also appreciative of the fact that I must continue to work just as hard, if not, harder to achieve my next aim.

What will you spend your $1000 on?

I have not really thought about how I will spend the money, but I am sure I will find a way. I suppose I could always save it!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I hope to achieve a top grade in my degree at Aston and secure a graduate role in the finance industry. I am currently on a placement at a global investment bank and really enjoying it, so would like to return upon graduation and build a career within the finance sector.
