The New Delhi Alumni Reception, which was attended by alumni, Aston agents and potential students interested in taking an Aston degree, took place in the Royal Ballroom of the Imperial Hotel, New Delhi, on Wednesday 2nd April 2014.
It was hosted by Andrew Harris, Executive Director of Campaigns at Aston University.
High tea and drinks were served before guests took their seats to listen to Dr Nathaniel Copsey (Jean Monnet Chair of European Studies) talk about ‘Britain, Europe and the Rest of the World after the Crisis’.
Dr Copsey’s lecture was followed by a talk from Professor Robert Berry from the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Aston. Professor Berry spoke to the audience about ‘Aston's work in Northern India’.
Feedback on the reunion came from Gaurav Brahmbhatt, Head of the Alumni Chapter in New Delhi, who said:
"It was great to catch up with other alumni and hear their news. It was also interesting to hear about Aston’s work and research being carried out in Northern India. I hope there will be more events like this where we can all share experiences in a social setting."
Gaurav also enjoyed the opportunity to meet with alumni from different graduation years as well as speaking to students hoping to come to Aston in the future.
Andrew Harris commented: "All 45 attendees gave positive feedback from the event. The mix of alumni and potential new students made the networking experience very enjoyable. Alumni were able to pass on their experiences of Aston. Attendees commented that they would like to see more events like this in the future. I also think the ambience of the Imperial Hotel really added to the occasion."
