All Aston graduates are invited to this year’s Annual General Meeting of Convocation to hear how the University is moving forward academically and to learn of its achievements and vision for the future.
This year the AGM will be held on Monday 8th May in Conference Aston Meeting Suites, Main Building. Registration will begin from 6.00pm with the meeting starting promptly at 6.15pm. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alec Cameron, and Chief Financial Officer Neil Scott, will present their reports.
The meeting will be followed by a lecture from Dr Harry Goldingay, Lecturer in Computer Science, School of Engineering & Applied Science:
‘Degree Apprenticeships: Educating the Professions’
Aston University is leading the way in Degree Apprenticeships, a new type of programme in which students complete an honours degree which is fully integrated with full-time employment. Aston was the first university in the country to offer degree apprenticeships and its first cohort will graduate in July this year. Designed collaboratively by universities and employers, Degree Apprenticeships are backed by the government as part of their target to create three million new apprenticeships by 2020. Dr Harry Goldingay, Lecturer in Computer Science, will discuss Aston’s involvement in this area and why Degree Apprenticeships present an exciting opportunity for the University, its students, and employers.
A drinks reception will follow the lecture at 7.30pm. To book your place at this year’s Annual General Meeting of Convocation please book on Eventbrite. If you have any questions please email email@example.com. We look forward to seeing you on campus!
