Aston University has been ranked 17th in the UK in The Independent’s Complete University Guide 2011, with the Birmingham institution’s degrees related to Subjects Allied to Medicine again rated 1st overall in the country.
The impartial guide, which provides prospective and current students with a comprehensive overview of universities, analyses everything from academic strengths and research, through to facilities, student support and student satisfaction.
Aston University is placed as the17th best Higher Education establishment overall out of all 115 UK Universities. Aston comes top in Birmingham, ahead of the University of Birmingham (22nd) and Birmingham City University (58th) and beats other established Midlands Universities including University of Nottingham (18th) and Loughborough University (24th). In the whole of the East and West Midlands, only the University of Warwick was ranked higher than Aston.
Aston has two top ten rankings in the subject tables of the Guide including;
- Subjects Allied to Medicine (including Optometry, Audiology and Human Biology (1st out of 77)
- Pharmacy and Pharmacology (4th out of 38)
