The Aston India Foundation at Aston University in conjunction with Deloitte hosted an inspirational seminar on Thursday 29 April.

The seminar, entitled Successful Entrepreneurship During Difficult Times, was chaired by Professor Pawan Budhwar, chair of the Aston India Foundation. The event also saw the launch of ‘India Inc’, a book by Vikas Pota, managing director of Saffron Chase, a government relations and public relations consultancy.

Other speakers included: Mr C. Gururaj Rao, Consul General of India at Birmingham; Richard Edwards from Deloitte; Stephen Kingan from Nexor and Nirmal Chhabria of Niva Global Services.

Each speaker gave their views on challenges for entrepreneurs in the current climate and explore opportunities for Indian entrepreneurs in the UK.

Professor Budhwar said: “Existing and emerging entrepreneurs in our region, the West Midlands, and far beyond are exceptional achievers. Many have survived the turbulent economic period and credit must be given to them. Through seminars like this we aim to identify, recognise and reward corporate ambassadors from all race and faith backgrounds who can really give a boost to the prosperity of our economy.”

Deepak Parekh, corporate finance assistant director at Deloitte, said: “Deloitte is proud to be co-hosting this prestigious event with Aston University. The launch of India Inc marks a very exciting time for Indian entrepreneurial business and having the author, himself a former student at Aston University, speaking at the event and sharing his professional experiences, both as an author and a businessman, is a real coup.”

“Birmingham and the West Midlands is a hotbed for successful Asian entrepreneurial business so I’m sure the content of Vikas’ speech will strike a chord with those in the audience,” added Mr Parekh.
