A sports development officer from Aston University is encouraging people to come along to a Summer Ball next month in a bid to help raise funds for his good friend, a brain tumour sufferer.
Simon Foster, Sports Marketing and Development Officer, is hoping the Summer Ball being held at the Holiday Inn in central Birmingham on 18 June will help boost the coffers of a fund set up by family and friends for David Robinson.
Father-of-one David, 29, from Leicester, has three incurable tumours – two on his brain and one on his spine. Every penny collected on the night will go towards the £100,000 target which will pay for a potentially life-saving experimental treatment in America.
David celebrated his first wedding anniversary this month. He tied-the-knot to his long-term partner Almina Hodzic and the couple have a year-old daughter, Amelia.
“David is my very special husband, my best friend and my soul mate. He is the one person in my life that I cannot imagine being without. We are like one person – we love and live for each other and have always been happy despite our trials and tribulations with David’s unrelenting fight with brain tumours. I hope that you will add to our happiness by helping to save my David’s life.”
Simon, one of David’s best friends, said:
“David is a remarkable guy. He is full of energy, enthusiasm, ambition and life and to see him suffer makes my heart sink. That’s exactly why I am helping to support this fundraiser and I urge people to extend their generosity and join our charity mission.”
Bora Sayar, General Manager at Holiday Inn in central Birmingham, said:
“Birmingham is a great city which prides itself on a raft of good Samaritans such as Simon Foster who are working tirelessly for a good cause. We at Holiday Inn are fortunate and privileged to be able to support such charity events and hope others will also extend a hand of friendship too.”
The Summer Ball, which will begin at 7.30pm on Saturday 18 June, will feature a champagne reception and three-course sumptuous meal served by an award-winning catering team. In addition, the event will include a DJ, fantastic raffle prizes and a disco.
Tickets for this black-tie event cost £40 per person. To book your ticket please contact Simon Foster on 0121 204 4630 or email email@example.com
