Beautiful day for a bike ride

21 April 2011

Aston University along with Birmingham City University and Birmingham Metropolitan College have each sponsored a new bike for the region’s police officers.

The bikes will be used in and around the area by West Midlands Police and Community Support Officers.

Aston University prides itself on ensuring its students are safe while on campus, and can enjoy a relaxed and secure environment. The involvement with the Police represents Aston’s ongoing commitment to ensuring a close relationship with the local police force and community. This includes ongoing activities planned for the future, reflecting the university’s continuing commitment to student welfare.

Ben Smith, vice president of the student’s guild and welfare officer, attended the official presentation:

‘This represents a great opportunity for the University to take an active role in ensuring our campus remains the safe and welcoming place that makes it such a fantastic environment to study and live. This sponsorship reflects Aston’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and we hope we can continue to work closely with West Midlands police in the future.’
