Leading education and business journalists from Russia were invited to Aston University to discover more about Higher Education within the UK, as part of a British Council organised Press Tour.
The visit, due to be hosted again next year, provides the University an excellent opportunity to promote itself within the global community.
During the visit, the Journalists were given a tour of the University’s campus and met with Russian students currently studying at Aston, gaining a greater perspective on why increasing numbers of international students are choosing to study at Aston.
The group, welcomed by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Helen Higson, visited the Business Partnership Unit and toured the Biomedical Engineering and Bioenergy laboratories to learn more about the groundbreaking research projects conducted at Aston. Current work by the Russian scientists from the University’s Photonics Research group was particularly commended.
The reporters, who had come from a range of leading business and education publications, were captivated by the open and friendly nature of Aston’s staff and students. Maria Simonova, a correspondent at Moscow business magazine commented, “This visit has been a fantastic insight into university life here at Aston and we are very impressed with the facilities on offer."
Upon return to Russia, the Journalists will write articles dedicated to education in the UK, due to published at the time of the Education UK Exhibition in the country.
