Aston University graduates are among the most employable in the UK, with over 92 per cent either finding employment or going on to further study in 2008/09.
Aston is also first in the UK for university students involved in sandwich courses*, at nearly 60 per cent (*courses with opportunity for a year- long work placement), the latest Government Performance Indicators highlight.
The figures released by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) for year 2009 graduates show that;
92.3% per cent of Aston’s 2009 graduates found employment or went on to further study within six months of graduating, beating a government set benchmark for Aston of 89.4 per cent. This was also better than the UK average employment levels of 89.9%
Aston University’s graduate employment levels are the highest in the West Midlands and above fellow established universities including Birmingham, Loughborough and Warwick amongst many others.
- Aston University had 59.6% of its students enrolled on degrees involving sandwich placement years the highest of any UK university. It is one of only 5 UK Universities where more than 50% of students take sandwich programmes: (Aston, Bath, Surrey, Ulster, Bournemouth). An increasing number of Aston students take placement years abroad.
