An organic baby product business launched by Aston University graduates has scooped a prestigious award.

The Little Green Sheep founders, Mark Nicholls and Paul Maurice have developed an exclusive range of high quality organic products and their Moses Basket & Mattress has now won silver in the national Mother & Baby Awards in the best basket or crib category, 2009.

As a small independent company, the Aston business graduates were delighted to have seen their product receive a national award among strong competition from major international high street retailers.

Mother & Baby magazine, which coordinate the awards, test hundreds of products via their consumer testers, assessing hundreds of products from highchairs through to cots.

Mark Nicholls from Little Green Sheep said; “As a relatively new, independent company, it’s fantastic to receive this nationally recognised award.  It will provide an added boost for the business and help establish our brand firmly on the map.”

Mark added; “We feel that the knowledge and experience gained at Aston University really helped to successfully launch and run our own company. It was great to combine our study with industry placement and take on the challenges of product development and brand management and learn from the retail experts. We wouldn’t be in the positions we’re in today without our studies and the experiences gained at Aston.”

The duo’s business was born from a shared interest in organics and a belief that there was a niche in the market for high-end quality organic products. They conducted extensive research before developing the Little Green Sheep brand and deciding on their suite of products.

Aston University run a range of undergraduate programmes in the fields of business and product design, all with built-in placement years. Visit www.aston.ac.uk for more information. To find out more about The Little Green Sheep visit www.thelittlegreensheep.co.uk.
