Hats off to nursery grads!

4 July 2008 – for immediate release

On 10 July Aston University will welcome over 120 pupils from Aston Tower Community Primary School to take part in a special Graduation Ceremony.

Youngsters from Aston Tower nursery class and year six pupils will take to the stage to receive their special ‘degree certificates’, wearing caps and gowns to highlight their achievements at school.

This year pupils’ will provide a musical treat – there will be a group of fifers performing.

Each pupil can bring two friends, and their families are also invited. Victoria Carroll from Aston University said, ‘This is a very effective way of getting parents involved with the school by inviting them to an event such as this, and also gives them the chance to see the University which is a part of their community too.’

The event is part of the University’s widening participation scheme which aims to help extend educational opportunities to all sections of the community and raise the aspirations of young people towards higher education.
