8 February 2008 – for immediate release

In the latest announcement of award nominations, Conference Aston has revealed that one of their housekeeping team, Omara Richards has been shortlisted by the Midlands Association of Restaurants, Caterers, Hotels and Entertainment – MARCHE – for housekeeper of the year.

Omara joined Conference Aston a year ago.

‘My passion is cleaning, so this job is ideal for me. Working in such a modern environment is great and it’s a lovely place to clean. I enjoy what I do and hope that it shows in my work. I’m really thrilled to be nominated and can’t wait to find out if I’ve won,’ she said.

Lynne Snow, Head of University Conference Services at Aston said: ‘I always say that our high standards are achieved by good team work, but in any team there are always exceptional players and it’s obvious that Omara takes her work seriously and enjoys what she does. I’m very pleased that she’s been nomiated.’

As well as an NVQ level 2 in housekeeping, Omara has also achieved certificates in osmetology and she plans to go on to further study.
