Hats off for youngsters!

20 July 2007 – for immediate release

It was a very special day for local school pupils at Aston as pupils from Aston Towers Primary School took their places for a special graduation ceremony.

Youngsters from Aston Towers nursery class and year six pupils took to the stage to receive their special ‘degree certificates’, wearing caps and gowns to highlight their achievements at school. The certificates were presented to them by their Head Teacher, Johnathan Moore.

Year six pupils also performed an impressive showcase of their Indian drumming skills which they had been taught in their music lessons.

The event was part of the University’s widening participation scheme which aims to help extend educational opportunities to all sections of the community and raise the aspirations of young people towards higher education.
